Connect to nature via the power of embroidery.
Sometimes it can be hard to know where to begin, how to be inspired. Maybe you are not someone who can locate animal inspiration easily and lack the ‘sight’. Through this title, you will be guided through designs which respect wildlife which has been threatened. We may not be able to heal the world or save the animals themselves, yet we can bring them to the attention of ourselves, if not the audience who watch us make.
Jessica as an artist and the author, can write so clearly and knowledgeably about this sector of nature, as she has a background in both horticulture and environmental studies.
The book is organised via ecosystems, which sounds complicated - yet its visually clear and very simple. We are talking about oceans and animals here, not rocket science!
There are 52 designs, so enough to keep you busy. The designs are conveyed very realistically. All levels of patterns and ideas are taught, from a beginner to a more complicated style.
I loved the idea of a stitch type to depict ‘fur’ - plenty of that in this title.
The designs are presented on every day objects as their vehicles for use, i.e. a cap, jacket etc.
