Gingermelon’s Embroidered Animals

Gingermelon's Embroidered Animals: Heirloom animal dolls to sew, embellish and treasure

Shelly Down

David and Charles Publishing

The author

This artist loves her craft. She is a home embroiderer, with studio in her setting. This book is simply a strain of her application to showcase what she loves and also what she can teach others.

The book - its aim?

It is cute, but not too overboard. There are a lot like it, but that is a good thing. This isn’t a competition for the most risk taking book to present to the world, not should there be one. I have friends who avidly wait for the next version of a project book and this is definitely one to remember to add to the list.

Aim? To be cute, wholesome and provide the reader with step by step instructions and guidance to make what I would call are ‘timeless’ animals, stuffed with embroidered finishings.

Layout

Very basically, it forms an introduction, a how to use, the projects and any templates required.

Simple to follow

Why bother?

I would call this book addictive. The front cover shows three made up examples from the described projects. You can yes, make them a little unique which could be a nice personal adjustment, but they look so good when coupled together. So why not make more than one? A set?

Who to buy this for

There are a lot of types of person who will get this book. I feel that it links well with those maybe making a gift for a child, family member, etc. Most of us will need some initial guidance on any subject and within her subject Down here presents a really well written version.
