Understanding the current collections
The Gallery Set
Inspired by the artist’s visits to art galleries, focus has been honed in on the culture and ambience of the place, the “café culture” and the character of both the attendees and the buildings themselves. This collection has been mainly derived from her original paintings and sketches, which have been developed into patterns and files suitable for print.
Gratifying her lifelong love of gardens and all they contain, Ailish has chosen her best watercolour studies to bring to life in print. Journeying from Agatha Christie’s garden in Devon, those of family and friends in Paris and even her own plot. This collection is personal, yet has universal appeal and identification.
You gave me Liberty
Growing up in a family with both Fine Art and Dressmaking history, Ailish turns her attention to her mother and her enduring love of Liberty fabric. Juxtaposing modern materials such as plastics as well as Liberty Print fragments, she created one off pieces as a celebration of her familial bonds. The pieces were then reworked into printable files.
Stories my grandmother told me
At various points in her life, Ailish has remembered her strong ties with her grandmother and how she herself is a reflection. Thus unconventional self-portraits were formed into raw works. In order to preserve the emotion and sentiment, chosen pieces have been formed into patterns and one off designs.
