Jo Lochhead is the founder of a craft supply company, living and based in Scotland. She is the author of several other craft related titles and runs workshops online.
Heather is a fellow designer and maker, also based at the same company. Her specialism is yarn related craft.
Who is this book aimed at?
Really this book is a risk for the publisher and author, but one which seems to have paid off - as really you have to love these little white characters to get the books content and want to embroider the characters. It is ideal for those who maybe don’t have that much experience in this craft and wish to have that extra push to try - of you are a Moomin fan, this may be the push you need. It is certainly a beautiful put together book.

This book is seamless in its flow. It contains everything you will need.
Lets go through the main points:
There are ten projects, all directed at a low level to begin with.
Every project has such clear instructions, I personally did not feel the need to use the old search engine to ask anything else - it was all there. (I am an experienced embroiderer, however something this neat can be challenging for us all and I am also not as familiar with the stories).
The stitches are all taught within the book - ideal for beginners and those who need that visual reference too.
I loved the quotes from the books throughout - these will mean so much to the fan - however they brought a smile to my face, even though I am not as familiar - which is another sign of a good book - when the unfamiliar factors do not take away - that is success.
There are many outlines in real size to use - as the shapes may be hard if you are not that used to drawing.
There is a beautiful pink ribbon to bookmark your page - it is so reminiscent of childhood and that idea of keeping your place. Rather sweet.
Final thoughts
In the introduction of this book, the authors finish with this: ‘Most of all, we hope this book gives you a moment of quiet companionship’. Isn’t that a lovely suggestion? So if I were you, I would use this book simply as a lovely way to settle in a chair, to take on holiday, the projects are very travel able - so why not buy and pack your copy, along with your supplies?
